Many entrepreneurs , who open a laundrette, have little or no prior formal training in the laundry business. While formal experience may be necessary but Prophetic Sound and Laundry owner, Elick Luhanga shares a different story.
The Musician, cum-businessman recalls that the dream for business dates back to his old music days. He said in 2015, he joined ECG Church of Prophet Shepherd Bushili and travelled to South Africa where he worked as sound engineer for the Prophetic channel.
“It was not an easy thing to adapt and work in South Africa, especially for the big Ministry of Prophet Bushili”, he recalls.
After a successful three years of working for the Church in South Africa, Elick decided to return home and established his Prophetic Sound & Laundry business in Mzuzu, Chibavi area.
“I looked at existing gap in the laundry business industry, hence the decision to open one in Chibavi to bring the service close to the people. The laundry business is about people. It is a service business, and like any service business, you need to treat your customers well if you want to be successful”, he said.
The Prophetic Sound & Laundry also incorporates selling, repairing and hiring music equipment for various events.
Elick Luhanga comes from Mwathanantha village, T/A Katumbi in Rumphi District and is married to Thokozire Mtika with whom they have two children. He encourages youths and business oriented people to be visionary focused in order to succeed in life.
