United Democratic Front (UDF) conducted a political rally on Sunday, 2nd July, 2023 at Chibavi Primary School ground in Mzuzu as part of its celebration for clocking 30 years of existence since it’s inception in 1993. Supporters of the Party, clad in their usual yellow and blue colours started storming Chibavi Primary School ground as earlier as 12:00 noon.

The rally was graced with few speeches from the Nkosi Kampingo Sibande of Mzimba, Director of History in UDF, Party’s Secretary General, the immediate past UDF President Atupere Muluzi and it’s current President Lilian Patel, Mp.

Taking the podium first was the Ngoni Chief, Kampingo Sibande who only thanked the Party leadership for planning to hold the rally and urged people to vote wisely in the coming 2025 Tripartite elections. ” Let what you have done today be your routine, you should be coming to address people here frequently”, said Chief Nkosi Kampingo Sibande.

In his remarks of giving a brief history of the Party, Kande Padambo who is also the Party’s Secretary General told the gathering that UDF has a rich history of what it has achieved from 1993-1994 and from 1994 to 2004. ” UDF did alot in this Country, including bringing Mzuzu University, Mzuzu Central Hospital, Mzuzu Stadium and construction of the Chiweta-Karonga road here in the North. We introduced free Primary School education so that the Country could easily realize it’s goals by educacting everyone”, said the Secretary General who looked calm during his entire speech.

Taking his turn, the immediate past UDF President Atupere Muluzi said it is hurting to see how people are suffering in the hands of this current government. He challenged the gathering that it is possible to have a self-reliant new Malawi from now than dancing to the government’s promises of achieving 2063 Millennium goals. Time is now to rebuild Malawi but the challenge now with this government as corruption is just too rampant. He urged the people to vote for UDF in 2025 if the Country is to witness real and transformative leadership. “Prices of basic needs are rising each passing day and currently there is no hope by this Mcp government to ease the sufferings of Malawians”, charged the former UDF Leader who was guest of Honor at the rally.

Ending speeches at the rally was the Party’s President, Lilian Patel. She also urged prospective electorate who patronized the rally to vote for UDF in the coming elections for Malawi to see the rebirth of democracy. ” During our time in government, things like fertilizer, Sugar, cooking oil, Soap, building and Construction materials were very cheap and affordable to even people in the village but now people are failing to buy even a packet of Sugar. Let us all unite and kick out this government because people are suffering, all there are doing is to find excuses”, said the UDF Woman President who is also Member of Parliament for Machinga West. She then thanked those party Officials who took part in organizing the rally and paid gratitude to all the people who attended the rally.

Skeffa Chimoto graced the Party’s celebrations with fine music throughout the rally.
